Art for Art's Sake

I was very honored when I was asked to do a vector the other day. Mr. Art De Oro asked me to do an image for him to be used for his Facebook profile picture. Even though I notice an improvement in my work, I was a little intimidated because sometimes it still doesn't seem to work out the way I want it to. I decided to give it a shot and it turned out well, if I do say so myself!

So I just want to take a moment to let you all know that Mr. De Oro is running to be a Senator. I'm very excited for this because although I have not known him for a very long time, his testimonials at the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) Meetings were very inspiring and I found that his sentiments were shared by many people, including myself. Here is a letter he wrote to the President, which he published on his website.

Happy Monday!

DAY 67 - March 08, 2010
TITLE: Marena
MEDIUM: Markers

I'm caught up with posting my 365! Yay! This one is dedicated to a little girl I used to babysit a few years ago. She's 14 now. Not so little anymore!!

Over the weekend, my cousins in California all got together. It makes me sad because I was the only one missing in that little reunion. My 10-year-old cousin, Claire, made it a point to let me know that I was missed. She is such a sweetheart. She's growing up to be sooo pretty and too quickly, if you ask me. The next time I see her, she might be a teenager already! It sucks to miss all those years of being the awesome older cousin that teaches you how to put on make-up and tell secrets to.

I'm due for a vacation! I need to hurry up and find a more consistent source of income.

Happy Monday, all!

Happy Birthday Dad!

DAY 65 - March 06, 2010
TITLE: Doggie Crossing
MEDIUM: Marker

As I was heading home the other night, I saw a dog crossing the street on the cross walk. It was so cute that I just had to draw it.

It was my dad's birthday yesterday. I was feeling a bit under the weather so I couln't really do anything special for him. It made me feel bad, but I'll just figure out a way to make it up to him.

My dad is the bestest EVERRR. We may not always agree on things but he is such a wonderful dad. He is super kind and giving, and not just as a dad, but as a person. Love ya Dad!

I did a vectorized image of him in the 1970's:
